Mid-2000s
A computer, no internet, endless curiosity
I got a computer long before I got a connection. That limitation shaped me. With nowhere to browse, I stayed inside the machine and poked at whatever I could open.
Photoshop was already installed. I taught myself by swapping heads onto other people’s bodies until the seams disappeared. The jokes were silly. The eye for craft was real.
Breaking things was part of the education. Opening cases, mixing parts, and putting them back together left me with an immense affection for computer hardware, not only what showed up on the screen.
